A Trip to the Flower Fields and Other May Things

Playing catch up.
A few days before Mother's Day, I took the kids to see the flower fields in Carlsbad. It has been something I have always wanted to check out and I'm glad I did. The kids loved it, especially the little play area, which I found out was pretty cool all on it's own. See below.

A pretty cute elf and gnome.

So all of the houses and mushrooms in the play area at the flower fields were built for and used at Santa's Village. You know, where you could see Santa's reindeer? When the amusement park closed in the late nineties, they auctioned off all of the buildings. A guy from Encinitas bought some of the buildings and put them in his backyard for his children and grandchildren to enjoy. Later he gave them to the city of Carlsbad for the public to enjoy them. And in a round about way for my children and I to enjoy them. Santa's Village would have definitely been on our list of places to visit. I was so excited to find this out, that I took as many pictures as I could.

Millie and a mushroom.

A cool slide.

And the flower fields weren't too bad either. Kate especially loved all of the flowers.

Definitely worth checking out the flowers if you are in the area in the spring, and I think the play area is open year round to go see. I bet it is awesome to visit during Christmastime.

Kate received a Character Award at school for citizenship at the end of April. I love going to school assemblies. It's so fun to see them in their school environment and I loved when my parents would come to things so hopefully she likes it too.

We went to the beach a few times.

This trip was with the Williams. It was short and sweet but just what they needed.
Millie loving the sand and the water.

Buds.

Sam and Kate were able to sit in Uncle Jared's police car and test out the lights. Sam was in heaven.

And, another beach day with Grandpa Doug, Grandma Lori and the Lunt's.
