A Yellow Dog Named Snow

We went to the Goodwill the other day and Kate had her eye on this yellow, plastic, velvety dog that was also a piggy bank. We didn't see it and for the good portion of the visit she couldn't stop talking about this yellow dog. Finally I got her out of the shopping cart and took her hand and said show me where this dog is.

We went to the knic-knacky section that was crammed with all sorts of tacky things, that at one point probably were cherished decorations on a doily in someone's household. We walked the length of the shelves looking for it. Kate turned back again knowing exactly what she was looking for, and there it was perched up high on the top shelf. The yellow dog. She was so happy, so for 99 cents we let her get it.

On the drive home she was filled with gratitude and told the dog that she would take care of it and then she lovingly named it Snow.

Seeing her simple happiness over something that (don't tell Kate) was kind of ugly, made me happy and made me think that this is one of those times that being a parent of this chick is pretty awesome.
