San Diego County Fair

We went to the San Diego County Fair on Tuesday night to celebrate Laura's birthday. Here are some of the pictures.

Kate loved looking at all of the animals,

and surprisingly, she loved riding "Frankie" the pony.

She did not need her mom in there.

Jennifer, Laura and Krystyne.

Kate and her cousin Wes loved riding in the boats together.

Kate was loving everything, she is definitely growing up.

Uncle Josh and Wes riding in an Interstate Batteries racecar. (A shout out to Grandpa Doug)

We had such a fun night at the fair. Because we weren't there for that long we were not able to fully enjoy the food that fairs have to offer. We did however manage to have a Blooming Onion, some of Josh's Kettle Corn and some apples with caramel. The Orange County Fair is coming up shortly..... who's in?

Well, I'll be coming to Hemet August 24th- September 1st, so WE can have a reunion then! :) I would LOVE to get our girlies together. We really want to go to the beach, so there's a thought!
I was wondering about our 10 yr HS reunion. Are you in charge of that? I don't even know if I will be able to go... just wondering.
The cake I made was super easy and fun. I got a bear head cake pan (that doubles as a kitten, giraffe, panda, ... all you have to do is get creative with the frosting). I baked a "doctored cake mix" recipe and when I frosted the cake, the dark frosting was made with cream and dark chocolate (melted), and I added powdered sugar until it was thick. It was a lot like fudge.
I got some cake decorating bags and tips, and just followed the directions that came with the pan as to how to make the different "effects" out of plain colored butter cream frosting. It was a lot easier than I thought, VERY YUMMY, and much better than a plain ole sheet cake.
