About a week before we moved to Texas was when Texas became a real possibility. Ryan had a phone interview, flew out there, came back and a few days later (which seemed like months) he had a job offer and about three days later we were in our car heading East through the desert in the night.
All summer long we had potential leads but those leads were really slow and most of them ended at a dead end. We played the "imagine where the Stephens will live next" game a lot. That was fun. But what was funny about this job is how fast it happened. We were really worried because school was starting soon and we had to get something figured out. Not until all of the dust settled, a house was bought, Texas plates were put on our cars, did we really realize, we live in Texas. And, (I have to say it) we realized we aren't in Kansas anymore.
If you wanted to know the story but were too afraid to ask, ;) that is the short version. Oh, I always have a longer version if you really need it. We appreciated the coincidence that we had watched Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure a few months before so we felt like we knew all we needed to know about Texas, so we were definitely ready.
If you are wondering if the stars at night really do shine big and bright, then you will have to come and visit us and find out. We always love visitors. We are going to try our best to explore this state and see what makes Texans so proud to be from Texas.
