We have to decided to take the plunge from 3 kids to 4 kids. There was a ton of hesitation involved on a lot of different levels, spacing, Mom's physical and mental health, and just an overall feeling of do we really want to make our life even more crazier? Well, we are going to have a fourth child in the Fall after we just couldn't shake the feeling that we needed one more crazy child in our life.
We also found out recently that we will be having a BOY. Sam called it, after coming to the very logical conclusion that having a boy would make it even and that just makes sense.
We found out a few days earlier, but waited to tell the kids what we were having. Since this is our last one and the kids are older, I thought it would be fun to do something big, well kind of big. I went to Target on Cinco De Mayo (just a coincidence) and was looking for ideas of what we could do and I saw these mini pinatas. Because it was Cinco De Mayo, I thought, "great we'll tell them today, after tacos and we'll surprise them with a pinata." Side note, Ryan's parents came the week before and his Mom brought a bunch of Geneology and Ryan's Grandma's side has a very strong line from Mexico and Spain so we could kind of justify it by our heritage. We aren't total Gringos celebrating a Mexican holiday... Well, I am but that's another story.
Anyway, I filled the pinata with blue Hershey Kisses and strips of paper that said "It's a Boy." They had no clue about the surprise, all they were stoked about was getting candy on a school night.
Well, the size of the pinata made it really hard to break and eventually the thing that made it hang, fell off, so Ryan had Kate pitch it to him a couple of times and the second hit busted it a little bit. It wasn't quite the perfect scenario I had in mind and I didn't even get it recorded like I wanted to because it took so long, I ran out of storage space. But their reactions were priceless when they finally put it all together and read the papers. We are so excited and I know Sam is really excited. See below.
On the 100 day of school they put together a little book and this was Sam's wish.
Phew, I'm glad we could provide at least one.

We are so excited to meet this little guy, he already has tons of people that love him.
