Kate is 8

To celebrate Kate's birthday we thought a visit to the Hallmark visitor's center would be a perfect way to celebrate. Admission is free, you get to go through a cool museum and then to a children's workshop where you can decorate paper bags, make puzzles, paint masks and so much more. It was a fun way to celebrate the day.

Millie and her mask she made.

On the way to Hallmark, we passed this cool park, so on the way home we stopped by for a little bit.
There were these cool statues welcoming us to the park. Each statue was making a letter in sign language that spelled out welcome.

Later that night, we picked up a cake from Hy-Vee because the cake mom was going to make stuck to the bottom of the pan and I was so over it, so store bought it was. But she was pretty happy that she got to pick it out.

The next morning I took her to get her nails done. This was a promise I made to her last year and did not deliver on and was reminded throughout the entire year, so this year I had to do it. If you know me, I'm not one for mani's and what not. So, when I got there and was faced with the choice of what color to pick, I got all confused. Kate quickly grabbed her color and after a minute said "Why don't you match me?" So that's what I did. Done and done. Fancy nail pic below.

Man, I love this girl. She has so much drive and personality and I am so glad she was my first, because she really made me jump into parenting. It hasn't been easy, but there are moments that I am glad that she is so strong-willed. She has taught me so much and I am so grateful for her.
