There have now been two years that we have celebrated our anniversary snowed in. The first one was in 2011 and was the second largest snowstorm in Chicagoland's history and the second one was this year and was the fifth largest snowstorm in Chicagoland's history. Don't quote me on those facts, it's what I read after the snowstorm and it stuck with me. The numbers might have changed. The actual storms took place the night before February 2nd but both times we were snowed in the day of with blue skies and mountains of snow. Here are some pictures from that day and here are pictures from the one in 2011.
The wind whipped the show around all night and made this snow wave by our front door in the morning, taunting us and reminding us how far away from actual ocean waves we were. Actually, it was really cool to see all of the snow.
The Suburu covered with snow.
Millie wasn't sure about the snow, she just sat down pushed it around with her gloves and was really quiet. I think she liked it.
Sam shoveling snow around.
Boots getting stuck in the snow.
The snow as tall as Millie.

I'll never forget that first snowfall and the fun that the kids had climbing the huge snow mounds together. That actually ended up being a pretty fun snowday!
