One Saturday, we needed a break. So we loaded up the car and drove to Joshua Tree to check it out for the day. We went first to Pioneertown. I had been wanting to check this place out for some time now but we were always home in the summer when it is too hot to be taking the family to the desert. It was beautiful weather in November, the perfect time to go. Pioneertown was built by Hollywood as a movie set town. You can tell that in the last few years it has gotten some upgrades, it has a cool motel that you can stay at. It's always fun to take the kids to a Wild West town even if it's a replica. The kids loved wandering around. We missed a gun fight by an hour which would have been fun to see. After Pioneertown we headed to Noah Purifoy's outdoor museum. It was awesome and the kids loved looking at all of the junk that was turned into art. I think this was the highlight of the trip for me. There is something I love about seeing a collection of things together and there were so many cool displays. Ben was a little too busy but the older kids loved it. All in all I would say it was worth the drive and a good day trip if you are close.

The most photographed Post Office in the US deserves another picture.
And of course Joshua Trees.
