Ever since I was little I thought that my birthday kind of kicked off the festivities. Ryan made a caramel popcorn banner and a cake with the help of Kate.
On the 3rd we went to the village of Glen Ellyn in the afternoon for their boat races. The rules are that the boats must be made of only cardboard and tape. It was fun to see all of the creations.

This is how Sam enjoyed the festivities.

And we would have loved to watch more than one boat race but Kate saw the playground and that was it.

That evening we went to a Fourth of July Festival in the town next to us.
Kate was so still while getting her face painted, she just was looking at the girl who was doing it. Maybe that girl should come to church with us.
The main reason I wanted to go was to see the balloons, but there was wind so they didn't launch them.Nothing beats Provo's yet.
The best part of the night was watching Kate go on a mini rollercoaster. At first she looked like she regretted her decision, but towards the end she loved it. Click on the pictures to make them bigger to see her face and notice that everyone else is enjoying the ride.

On the 4th we were greeted with a huge downpour of rain as we were getting our stuff out to go watch the fireworks. We decided to bag it and started to leave but then it cleared up and was dry the rest of the night.
I wish I could say the same for us.

Sam's first 4th of July
Kate wasn't really into the fireworks this year. At the end when they shoot off a bunch she was attacking her brother. Really? She sees him everyday.Kids, maybe she'll love them later.
I hope everyone had a happy fourth!
